UK Player Rankings
January 2008

In the first UK Player Rankings for 2008 it's that man Devilfish off to an absolute flyer

The UK Player Rankings are the definitive guide to the best hold'em players in the country. We take into account every open event with a buy-in of $1,000+, with points based on finishing position, number of entrants and buy-in.

This is the first rankings for 2008, based on all tournaments from 3 December 2007 to 3 January 2008.

And no that's not a typo, the 'Devilfish' really does have 768 points and we think it's safe to say that the rebirth of the 'Fish really is complete.

For the second year on the bounce, Ulliot showed his abilityin the Five Diamond Classic (last year he won the $2,000 side event) by coming third out of 664 in the $15,000 main event.

He will be no doubt rueing coming so close to taking down yet another major tournament, but at least he can console himself with the $674K he took home - easily the biggest cash of his career.

With such a massive head start on the rest of the field, could this be the year Devilfish gets crowned Player of the Year?

What is most remarkable about De Wolfe's performance is that although he didnot win a single tournament, he showed consistenecy and doggedness by making six final tables. Three times in a row looks unattainable - but would you want to bet against De Wolfebagging a hat-trick?

HOW WE WORK OUT THE RANKINGS

1. Finishing position where the buy-in was equal to or more than $1,000.

2. The number of entries, rounded down to the nearest ten (e.g. 204 entries counts as ‘up to 200’).

3. The buy-in.

The criteria are then multiplied together to give the points total. If a player makes the top ten in more than one event, we multiply their points total by 1.5, for three events by 2, for four events by 2.5, etc.
