High stakes gamblers
Brunson and Antonius collide

Doyle Brunson and Patrik Antonius to do battle at the tables and the golf course

As he reaches his 75th birthday Doyle Brunson refuses to leave his perch as the world’s top gambler. Not content with challenging fellow Big Game pro Patrik Antonius to a mixed-game cash battle in the future, he now wants to wage war on the golf course too with the young Finn.

Brunson has a legendary reputation for high-stakes golf matches against the likes of Phil Ivey, Dewey Tomko and Erick Lindgren and is rumoured to have hustled pro golfers Ben Hogan and Sam Snead over the years. This time, he has set Antonius the challenge of playing for a whopping 0,000 per hole before the summer is out.

The always-game Antonius has already responded on his blog, with tongue somewhat in cheek; What is the gambling world coming to when a 108-year-old man can challenge a young man in the prime of his life to a 0,000 a hole golf match.”

Antonius then went on to accept the challenge before saying of Doyle, “I have never seen him looking more alive and with so much energy and focus. Most likely due to the fact that he thinks he has finally found the ultimate fish who is going to donate millions on the golf course and poker table!”

Patrik Antonius is definitely not a fish by any means but it will be interesting to see how he fares in the ultimate mixed game that Brunson is proposing. Yet Doyle is so confident he has made this promise in his blog;

"I know I've got a lot more experience at most of the games I'll choose. If anyone under thirty years of age can let me pick any game at any time I want, I strongly believe I can beat them. If I don't, the Brunson Family has three hundred acres on the top of a mountain at Big Arm, Montana. I'll retire and move up on that mountain and enjoy the wildlife and the sunsets for the rest of my life."

Brunson vs. Antonius then, on the golf course and more importantly on the poker table. Who is your money on?
